I realized my playlists for running never follow one music genre or even decade. The list above moves from rap, top 40, dance, 80’s, late 90’s girl groups and r&b. The MP3 player(iPod for most but not all) allows others a quick glance of your musical tastes. Ever had an embarrassing moment where shuffle reveals to a large group that not only do you own an awesome song but there is always the one buried in that you enjoy but don’t want to talk about? Pop culture terms it “the guilty pleasure”. We all have one. Mine are frequently broadcast on my playlists. Rather than hide it, I embraced it and titled it appropriately. The list above is certainly not my most guilty but it still fits the mold. Not because of what is on it, but more how it is all together.
When my playlist gets boring, I switch it over to Pandora. They have a station called “Pop and Hip Hop Power Workout”. It plays a lot of top 40 songs that fit the description, think Pitbull, Rihanna, David Guetta, Calvin Harris etc.
Another work out option is podcasts, I like Jillian Michaels and This American Life.
